Abstract
Invasive alien species posed a great threat to agricultural production, ecological safety and human health, this concern drawn much public attention and became the hotspot of research all over the world. The origin, distribution, bio-ecological characteristics, economic and ecological impacts and relevant management strategies of giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida L.), an exotic weed, were reviewed in this paper. Based on the bio-ecological characteristics, potential risks, difficulties in prevention and other factors, a risk assessment system on exotic weeds was established. According to this system, the risk value for giant ragweed was 83 and was considered as a quarantine pest with high risks.
